The Scout Troop is for boys and girls aged between 10 and a half and 14 years, meeting weekly term time only. Each Troop is split into smaller groups called Patrols. Ours are Cobra, Eagle, Lion and Stag.
 .
As a Scout you are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities, and when you are out and about locally you may be in small groups looking after each other - without an adult always being constantly present. Being outdoors is really important so it's a great chance to explore the world around you with the rest of your Troop. With them you will learn new skills and overcome fears. Each week is an adventure in itself as you may do anything from sailing to rock climbing or cooking to a survival camp. We help to teach you that making a decision isn't the difficult bit - it's learning to live with the consequences (as any Scout who has burnt their breakfast will tell you!)

We often join up with our Beaver Colony or Cub Pack (or both!), and with Scouts from other Troops, for more scouting fun and to help the local community.

Our Troop are usually involved in at least one weekend hike, camp or other activity every couple of months (yes - even in the winter!). Every summer we try and offer all our Scouts the chance for at least a week away somewhere. For 2007 our Troop were given 10 days off school to join a centenary camp on an island in the Oslo Fjord in Norway, with 300 Norwegian Scouts.

Worried your friends won't think Scouting is "cool"? Do you always believe everything they tell you? What's so "cool" about them playing computer games or hanging around on street corners? Wouldn't you rather be climbing...or sailing... or windsurfing... or travelling abroad? Then why not come and try ScoutingLaughing (Alternatively if you want a youth club or to play sports all the time we can provide details of local clubs that you might like to consider joining instead, we fully understand Scouting does not suit everyone).

If you want to you are encouraged to work towards any of the various 69 activity, 6 staged badges and 9 challenge badges.

Why not have a look in the "Photo Gallery" to see what we've been up to?
