The Beavers spent an exciting night at the Sea Life Centre in Hunstanton this weekend!
"On a very sunny Saturday afternoon we met outside the Sea Life Centre in Hunstanton and after dropping off a few tonnes of luggage we headed off to the beach to make sand sculptures, working in lodges we built some very wet sandy creations and got very messy in the process! Before tea we did a quick scavenger hunt finding and spotting various items on the beach.
After a fish and chip tea we set up our beds around a large tank of Sharks, Rays and other fish.
We then had full VIP tour of the Sea Life Centre including the rock pool where we stroked a starfish's bottom!
After a great tour we settled in the school room with hot chocolate and cookies to watch Finding Dory.
At last it was bedtime! After about 1000 toilet trips everyone settled down to sleep with the (quite loud) sound of running water which even managed to drown out the noise of Beavers!
After a restful nights sleep and breakfast we have packed up and headed off along to Promenade towards Old Hunstanton on our Walk for Water Aid and tour of the RNLI boathouse. We saw the lifeboat and hovercraft out in the sea on exercise, we were shown all the kit the crew wear and then watched the hovercraft arrive back on the beach before we walked back to meet parents and handover all the dirty washing!
As well as having a lot of fun we also covered quite a bit of badge work helping the Beavers to move towards their Chief Scout Bronze award."
Some lovely feedback from parents "A big thank you to all of the leaders and Young leaders for all their hard work and time that went into the planning and preparation for the sealife centre sleepover both beforehand and at the sleepover. What a great experience for the Beavers. Isaac absolutely loved it and has taken away lots of special memories from it. All of your efforts are greatly appreciated not only for the sleepover but for all of the work put into Beavers on a weekly basis. Thank you! We hope you have a well deserved restful half term."
So, calling all parents / carers - if you thought this was fun and can admit to being a teeny little bit jealous of your Beaver Scout - why not volunteer to be leader?!
